FAQ

Do I need to make an appointment to be seen for an emergency?

No, we do not schedule appointments. We see patients on a walk-in basis. However, please text "AEH" to "34947". This will alert our team that your pet needs care. If it is a life-saving emergency and your pet is in critical condition, please proceed to the hospital immediately. If your pet is stable, we ask that you wait at home until you are contacted by phone or text after completing the digital registration.

What should I do if my pet ate something toxic?

Call AESH immediately at (616) 537-1402. The veterinary technician will consult with the veterinarian to determine if your pet needs to be seen immediately. The veterinarian may advise you to call ASPCA Animal Poison Control at 1-888-426-4435. A consultation fee will be charged. You may also bring the pet straight to AESH.

What type of payment do you accept?

Major Credit Cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover), Cash, Personal Checks (under $500), and financing options through CareCredit and ScratchPay.

Do you offer payment plans?

Our payment plans are managed by CareCredit and ScratchPay.

Can I visit my pet when he/she is hospitalized?

Our normal policy is you are welcome to schedule a time to visit your pet depending on their condition and level of hospitalization. Current policy is on a case-by-case basis but limited due to exam room and space restrictions.

Do you administer vaccines?

No. For vaccinations you should visit your primary care veterinarian.

Are you affiliated with my primary care veterinarian?

Not directly. In emergency and specialty care situations, we partner with your veterinarian to provide the most comprehensive care for your pet. We do not have direct access to your pet’s records from your primary care veterinarian.

Do your veterinarians make house calls or have an ambulatory service?

No. We only provide care within our facility.

Is there a veterinarian on staff all night?

Yes. We have a veterinarian and a team of veterinary nurses on staff 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year! We do not close for holidays.

How long can I expect to wait?

Just like the human emergency room, we never know what to expect. We do our very best to ensure wait times are minimal, however, care is given in order of urgency. During peak times, please be prepared to experience a longer wait time. We appreciate your patience and understanding!
