Dr. Elaine Sheikh
Dr. Sheikh is a native of West Michigan, attending Grand Valley State University as an undergraduate and then Michigan State University for veterinary school. She started practicing veterinary medicine in a high-paced mixed animal practice, which is where she fell in love with small animal emergency medicine. Dr. Sheikh is passionate about emergency medicine, anesthesia, pain management, rehabilitation medicine and soft tissue surgery. This drove her to pursue her master's degree in veterinary anesthesia and analgesia through the University of Edinburgh. She has also continued her education through the Chi University's certified veterinary acupuncture program. In her free time, Dr. Sheikh is involved in organized veterinary medicine leadership and has spent several years on the board of the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association, as well as being the former president of the West Michigan Veterinary Medical Association. She is also an avid ultramarathoner and bicyclist. She shares her home with two cats (Dory and Peg Leg Pete), three dogs (Nugget, Desi, and Dara), and a supportive husband!
